Dhaka the capital of Bangladesh was famous for its finest muslin cotton in the world, but came to limelight during the mughal era in 1608 as the capital of Bengal, the city has remains of mughal establishments, buildings from the British Raj and the legacy of the Nawabs of Dhaka. The old part of the city has a charm of its own with the river Buriganga passing by. The color and the variety of avocation is a charm for the travelers, in the words by Mr. Peter De Jong, CEO PATA, describes old Dhaka as a living museum. Visit Dhaka & take a shower of masses where 15 million inhabitants overwhelming the city. To visit Old Dhaka walking or rickshaw riding will be more appropriate.

Sadarghat river port-crowded with all river crafts. Ahsan Manzil – Pink Palace, Shakhari Hindu Street, Lalbagh Mughal Fort, Dhakeswari National Temple, Central Shahid Minar, Curzon Hall at Dhaka University, National Parliament Building (if visit inside, require special permission), Star Mosque & Armenian Church. During the city sightseeing in Dhaka the accompanied guide will have the option to revise the program depending on traffic situation.

2. CAPITAL & BEYOND

After Old Dhaka Sightseeing (half day) lunch will be offered in a nice local restaurant & after lunch the guide will take you to the suburb area of Dhaka City either to the old capital of Sonargaon (30 km.) or to the Savar National Martyr’s Monument.

 

Visiting Places:

 

Sonargaon: Panam -the lost city, Goaldi Mosque of Sultan period (13 century),  Sonargaon Folk Art Museum & the complex in the wonderful natural environment. A boat cruise in the river Meghna will open a great surprise the visitors with a fantastic river cruising in the river Meghna by country boat. During the cruise you will be fascinated to see the native fisherman & the remote island villages with their living rural lifestyle.

 

Savar: Dhamrai Brass Village & Kakran Pottery Village by country boat. Afterwards visit the National Martyrs Monuments built in the memory of the millions of martyrs who died in the Liberation War in 1971.

 

 

3. COX’S BAZAR

Cox’s Bazar is called the tourist capital of Bangladesh & nominated to contest the 7th nature wonder of the world. This unique spot has attracted the international attention for having the world’s longest (120 km.) natural sea beach with silvery sands & blue surfing waves against the picturesque background of a chain of forested hills. Found it in 1798 by a British Captain Herow Cox was once occupied by Arakani Buddhist immigrant from Myanmar. Today Cox’s Bazar has a mixed population. There are more than just sun and sands, you will visit Ramu (the ancient Rakhain Capital) and the Moheskhali, Sonadia Island & the very paradise island of Saint Martin. This is the only coral island of Bangladesh located 29 km. from Teknaf & 115 km. from Cox’s Bazar bordering Myanmer. This coral paradise island is featured with 8 square km. area which is completely isolated and surrounded by huge black stone & clustered corals. Different type of marine turtles, giant crabs and colorful fishes with rich bio diversification turned this island as a capital of marine life & eco-tourist.

Day 03: DHAKA – COX’S BAZAR

Morning drive to Cox’s Bazar (380 km. approx.) – the tourist capital passing through the Chittagong – the port city. Lunch at wayside restaurant. Afternoon reach Cox’s Bazar & transfer to the hotel. Evening free to enjoy the sea beach. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 04: COX’S BAZAR

After breakfast drive to Kosturi Market (Fish Market). Enjoy the landing of sea fishes. Visit the Historical Maheskhali Islandby crossing bay channel through speed boat. The island is dotted with forested hills & some mangrove forest. The ancient Adinath Templeat the hilltop & the Rakhain Village with their colorful Buddhist Temple have got a real attraction. Return Cox’sBazar & after lunch enjoy the beach at your own & overnight.

 

Day 05: COX’S BAZAR – ST. MARTIN

Early morning drive to ‘Teknaf’ an wonderful  Eco Tourist Spot at the bank of Panoramic Naf river bordering Myanmar. Breakfast at the parjatan restaurant & board the costal tourist vessel to rich the wonderful coral island St.Martin (An isolated island 9sq. km.) crossing the blue water of Bay of Bengal. Transfer to the hotel located near the virgin beach with wonderful surroundings. After lunch free to explore the southern tips of the island which is very rich for it’s marine life & forested with mangrove plants.  To enjoy the moonlit night on the virgin beach is a life time experience. Have a BBQ dinner with sea fish (lobster). Overnight at hotel. 

 

Day 06: ST. MARTIN

After early breakfast avail the trawler boat to explore the adjacent ‘Chera Deep’ the wonderful coral island & the mysteries aquatic world. This is the ideal place for Scuba diving. After lunch board the ship for return journey to Cox’sBazar via Teknaf. Overnight at hotel at Cox’sBazar.

 

Day 07: COX’S BAZAR –CHITTAGONG -  DHAKA

After breakfast drive to Chittagong. En route you can visit the wonderful Ramu the ancient capital of Rakhain people and visit the Buddhist pagodas. After arrival at Chittagong fly to Dhaka and transfer to hotel & overnight.

4. NORTH BENGAL

the heritage path

The reach heritage of Bangladesh primarily lies in the north. Visit north Bengal and find the history among the ruins and archaeological sites, visit the Varendra Museum, Choto Sona Mosque, Puthia Palace If you have more time then visit Mahasthangar, Paharpur,  Kantajee Temple and Taj Hat Palace.

Drive to Bogra (4 hrs. drive). Cross Jamuna Bridge (4.8 km), on the river Jamuna visit to Mahasthangarh (ancient archeological and historical place established in 3-4 BC.) and Gokul Medh (a historical relic at Mahasthangarh, Bogra) Further drive to Paharpur (inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985). Visit to ruins of Budhist Vihara, single largest monastery in the world. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 04: BOGRA-RAJSHAHI-DHAKA

Morning Drive to Puthia (fascinating but little-known group of medieval Hindu temples) See the interesting variety of temples and explore Rajshahi (one of six metropolitan cities in Bangladesh), visit Varendra Museum. Return to Dhaka & Overnight at hotel.

5. THE ETHNIC LIFESTYLE

Rangamati & Bandarban

Rangamati, the queen of the hills is located in the Chittagong Division. The total area of the district is 6116.13 sq km. It is bounded by the Tripura state of India on the north, Bandarban District on the south,  Mizoram State of India and Chin State of Myanmar on the east, and Khagrachari and Chittagong  Districts on the west. Rangamati has the Asia’s largest man made lake, Kaptai and is the place of different colourful tribes of Bangladesh like Chakma Marma, Tanchanghya, Tripura etc.

 

Bandarban is a district in South-Eastern Bangladesh, and a part of the Chittagong Division and Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bandarban (meaning the dam of monkeys) is also known as Arvumi or the Bohmong Circle (of the rest of the three hill districts Rangamati is the Chakma Circle and Khagrachari is the Mong Circle). Bandarban town is the home town of the Bohmong Chief (currently King, or Raja, Aung Shue Prue Chowdhury) who is the head of the  Marma tribe people. It also is the administrative headquarter of Bandarban district, which has turned into one of the most exotic tourist attractions in Bangladesh.

Day 03: DHAKA-CHITTAGONG

Day 04: CHITTAGONG-RANGAMATI

Drive to Rangamati the queen of the hills (2.5 hrs). Visit the Tribal Museum, Buddhist Temple,King’s Palace, Tribal weaving factory and Hanging Bridge. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 05: RANGAMATI-BANDARBAN (3 hrs.)

Morning Cruise in the Asia’s largest man made Lake Kaptai. and visit tribal village. Afternoon drive through the scenic road and cross Karnaphuli river by ferry. Reach Bandarban and transfer to hotel.

 

Day 06: BANDBARBAN

Morning drive to Chimbuk, visit the tribal village of Murang Tribes and take a deep look at their lifestyle. Afternoon visit tribal village of Bawm & Tripura. Experience their custom & culture. Dinner at Tripura house. Experience their food. Overnight at hotel.

6. SUNDERBANS

the music of silence

The Sundarbans delta is the largest mangrove forest in the world. It lies at the mouth of the Ganges and is spread across areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India, forming the seaward fringe of the delta. Interestingly, the Bangladesh and Indian portion of the jungle are listed in the UNESCO world heritage list separately as the Sundarbans and Sundarbans National Park respectively, though they are simply parts of the same forest. The Sundarbans is intersected by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forests, and presents an excellent example of ongoing ecological processes. The area is known for its wide range of fauna & fuma. The most famous among these are the man-eating Royal Bengal Tigers, but numerous species of birds, spotted deer, crocodiles and snakes also inhabit it. It is estimated that there are now 400 Bengal tigers and about 90,000 spotted deer in the area.

Early morning transfer to the River Front and onboard the boat for cruise to Sunderban. Cruise through the canals and afternoon reach Kochikhali (Tiger point), walk around the forest office area. See the beautiful sunset and overnight on board. On way see river dolphins (there are 4 types of them) Overnight on the boat.

 

Day 04: SUNDERBANS

Early morning boating in the canals, see colorful birds, breakfast and then walk on the beach and cross through the grassland, see the tigers pug mark, spotted deer, wild bear. Arrive Kotka. Lunch and then walk for 2 hours in the forest. The boat leaves for Mongla. Stop for overnight at a suitable forest station.

 

Day 05: BAGERHAT – JESSORE – DHAKA

Early morning resume cruise and arrive to a village on the buffer zone, see the rural life on the forest edge. Early lunch and visit to Jessore & fly back to Dhaka. Overnight at hotel.

7. SRIMONGAL

The panoramic Surma Valley of Srimongal on the border of Indian state of Asham which popularly known as the land of two leaves & a bud. Srimongal has been established as the tea capital of Bangladesh being nestled with the evergreen  tea plantation & tropical rain forest. You will travel through this green paradise of large rain forest and walk through the majestic standing trees which are undisturbed for century. The attractive singing birds like Oriol, Barbet, Hornbills, Hill Moyna etc. with the high profile symphony of small insects like will absolutely absorb you. The rare Hullook Gibons, Capped Langur and Slow Loris and some reptile are available in this evergreen jungle. Reach Srimongal and transfer to hilltop tea resort.  Enjoy the Swimming Pool or leisurely walk through the adjacent lash green tea gardens of the hill slope and observe colorful local birds & tea plucking. Overnight at Tea resort.

 

Day 04: SRIMONGAL

Early morning explore the wonderful Lawachara tropical rain forest which is one of the richest National Park to observe the rare species of Capped Langur, Lorris, Ape Monkeys, Hoolok Givon etc. Here you can observe the rare species of world’s largest butterflies like birdwing, triodes, ornithoptra which are measured 6 inch. to 8 inch. length between two wings. There are more than 286 species of local colorful birds. You can have ‘Elephant Riding’ at Lawachara (extra cost).Visit the tea processing center & observe the tea plucking.
